On the cell phone in a car at 17 months old ...YIKES

Stephen says that we are training her young. Haha! In the middle of playing with christmas toys she jumped in her car with the play cell phone on her ear,.....Yikes....women drivers.

Merry Christmas

We had a fantastic christmas! We received so many christmas cards, it was nice to know that we were so well thought of this year. On Christmas Eve we spent the day with my side of the family and had dinner and opened presents. Avery got lots of books, a farm animal toy, an interactive push cart with a lot of goodies inside and a lot of clothes. That night, Stephen and I put together a 4 ft. doll house that his mother and father got for her, it was fun playing santa this year.
Christmas day we woke up and Avery got to see avery's reaction to all the toys that were out. She had a blast with all of them. After lunch and naptime we went to Stephen's parents house for opening presents and dinner too. Avery got a learning tricycle, the doll house, some clothes, a baby doll and puzzles, and in the pictures you can see even more stuff than to list.
In all we had a great christmas, we are very thankful for all our friends and family. I can't believe its time for new years!

Gatlinburg Trip (Nov. 2008)

It has taken me two weeks to write about our trip to Gatlinburg, sorry about that. I have been sick ever since we came back, for 2 weeks now.
We enjoyed ourselves on the trip. We met up with some of my friends from Memphis and stayed in a nice 3 story cabin, equipped with a hot tub and indoor heated pool, which we enjoyed. We never actually made it into the smoky mtns. It was very cold and wet while we were there, we stayed mostly in downtown Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. We went to the Aquarium of the Smokies and shopped mostly, but had fun . Our trip was cut short though as all 3 of us were sick and not sleeping well at night.
It was relaxing at the cabin as well. The most important part of the trip is that Avery did soooooo well riding in her carseat for a 21 hour round trip. She is such a good lil girl.

No potty !

Well, this past week has been crazy for us. With the election and me starting to work more shifts now that Avery is older, time is really flying.
There is a video I need to post on here, it is too cute. Avery is in the habit of taking off her diapers, so we decided to put her on the potty chair to see if she is ready to start potty training. She was compliant 2 times then after that she doesn't want to have anything to do with it. The video is of her standing in the bathroom looking at the potty and she says "potty" and shakes her head no and says "no, no, no" . It really is too cute, if I had to guess I'd say that she doesn't like it b/c its probably cold to her bottom. I have to have stephen walk me through how to put a video on the website, I tryed and couldn't get it to work.
This coming week we will be going on vacation to Gatlinburg, smoky mountains. I can't wait, I just hope that we have enough things planned to keep Avery busy and entertained. I don't want a cranky butt on vacation with us, haha. When we get back from vacation I will post some pictures then.

Mommy and Avery's Costume

Trick or Treating

We had so much fun trick or treating on Friday night, it has taken me a while to post b/c I worked all weekend and was unable to download the pictures.
As you can see by the pictures I dressed up like Avery, we were both butterfly fairies, very girlie, but cute. She was too scared to walk up to the doors herself, so Stephen and I took turns carrying her door to door. We had a lot of fun, as it started to get colder outside, we called it a night and came home for Avery to get her bath and go to bed at a reasonable time, she was a trooper though.
Enjoy the pics.

Halloween 2008

We are the Borchers, Stephen, Beverly and Avery. This is a blogspot dedicated to updating our life with family and friends. I decided to start this blog so that we can update and keep a journal, more or less, of our life as a family.

Most of you already know the history, for those who don't I will briefly update our past 7 years. In August 2001 Stephen and I met working at a local hospital here in Louisiana. I graduated Nursing school in Dec. 2001, and became an ER Nurse (RN). We got engaged in Gatlinburg, Tn in May 2002 when Stephen graduated from LSU with his Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology. We took a year to plan our wedding while stephen applied to Optometry school. In May 2003 we got married, that following August of 2003 we moved up to Memphis, TN for Stephen to start his first year of Optometry school. We lived in Memphis while he attended 4 years of schooling, we met some of the best friends while living up there. I moved my career in the direction of Pediatric Nursing, working in the Intensive care unit, the BEST career choice I have made by far. I love working with children. Stephen had the opportunity to move back to Louisiana for his last semester of school, for externship. November 2006, we moved back home and found out I was pregnant. In May 2007, Stephen graduated as an Optometrist, and took a local job here in La as the staff Optometrist. He works for Ochsner and loves his job. On July 31, 2007 we welcomed our first child, a little girl, Avery Madison Borchers into our life and here we are 15 months later.

Today, Avery made 15 months old and it is halloween. I have decided to start this blog to share the adventures of our daily lives for those who are interested. I also figure it is a great way to keep in touch with family and friends that we don't get to talk with often due to the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
So, enjoy our blog, I will try to update weekly.
Love~ Stephen, Beverly and Avery
