Avery's 2nd Birthday

Planning Avery's party was a piece of cake.......pardon that statement...HAHA!
Planning Avery's party was easy.....it was the cake....that really gives meaning to the word BLOG !

For those who don't care to read the cake part:
We had at Summer Saturday birthday Party with an Elmo & Abby theme (sesame street characters) it was a swimming party at My Aunt Becky's house. Everything went well, we ate, mingled, then opened presents, sang happy birthday, ate cake (which I made-above) and ice cream then went swimming, It was a nice birthday, we had about 32 guests.

For those who CARE to read the cake whoopla....here goes.
It all started when the lady who made Avery's 1st birthday cake, doesn't make cakes anymore. I needed to find someone to make her cake, I had an idea in mind, with characters jumping out of the cake, when I got a quote from the nearest bakery, stephen about had a heart attack, it was gonna be over $150.00~ he said, not for a cake.
So he somehow talked me into making this cake "from the heart" I agreed. I didn't realize how hard cake making actually is, getting cakes leveled, stacking on top the other, making homemade icing, etc. Then the characters, ugh......how was I gonna make those? what did I get my self into? Well LONG>>>>> story short.
After 2 weeks of making icing, practice cakes and trying to make characters.....I made the cake, it was SO stressful. I baked the cakes the night before, then Saturday morning it took 5 hours to assemble the cake....It was a SUCCESS.

Gulf Shores Alabama, June 2009

We go every year to Gulf shores for a week vacation, I love the beach and the pool, we mostly stayed at the pool though, because this was the year of "the scary sand" She didn't want to have anything to do with the sand. We hung out at the pool mostly and Avery learned to swim with floaties on, she does rather well too. She was such a GOOD girl , the whole vacation.
Mommy got her beach pictures taken, YAY !

Mother's Day

We went to breakfast, and spent the day as a family, just hanging out the 3 of us!

Mother's Day Celebrations

Mother's Day was spent doing several things, saturday, was a "Mad Hatter Tea" with all the characters from Alice in Wonderland. Avery and I went with her cousin Miles and Aunt Kim, we had a blast too.

Easter 2009

Easter was a pretty laid back day for us.....we woke up and spent the morning with avery (we should have gone to church) ~seeing as there is no nursery at the catholic church we attend, it makes it hard for Avery to sit in an hour mass, so we get discouraged to get up and go and when we get there she disrupts by talking, playing, etc. Now though the church was remodeled and has a "cry room" apparently sectioned off and sound proof from the rest of the congregation, so I told stephen we need to start attending again.
Anyway, then we spent the day at our land in Mississippi, the easter dress Avery is wearing was made by her Grandmother, Stephen's mom, Mrs. Margaret, she is so talented and Avery loves wearing the dresses she makes, they are always exquisite.

April 2009 ~ Global Wildlife Center

We took Avery to the local Global Wildlife Center, on a saturday in April. It was a beautiful day she enjoyed getting to feel the animals by hand, we saw all kinds of wildlife too. Giraffes, Zebras, Camels, deer, too many numerous ones to name them all. It was really a nice experience.
